The Homemaking Page
Here you will find everything you possibly need to know about homemaking! Click on the links below for a primer on each topic related to homemaking: My goal is for you to have as much of your housework and cleaning on autopilot. For those of you with children, it is important to pass on the values of living in a clean house and sharing that with your kids, starting young. There's no reason Mom should have to do everything herself.CookingFood is such an integral part to how a Jewish home runs, every Yom Tov requires much food. There are many cooking strategies for getting dinner on the table and Shabbos food made. Understand which methods work best for you and then practice them regularly. Some women like to freeze food in advance while others strictly enjoy fresh food.HomemakingThe attitudes we have about Homemaking impacts how our house runs. We need to first go within ourselves and assess how we feel about homemaking in order for the home to run smoothly.Unfortunately, many organizing products really don't work. I'll tell you which do and which don't. In general, know that you really only have 4 options for organizing containers: Ones that hang, go on a shelf, go on the floor, or in a drawer. So if you feel overwhelmed about where to put things, figure out which of those options are available to you and then seek the right organizing product based on my recommendations. There is a lot to say about Parenting and I'm not going to tell you what methods to follow. I do feel it is important that you teach your kids the value of keeping an organized home and figure out ways to bring them in on the household functions. For those moms that want to or have to support their family financially, read about the Eishes Chayil School of Business. I love helping Moms start businesses and can help you personally if you are looking to start a business so do ask me. Renovate or just update. Believe it or not, I try to do everything to avoid construction. I just hate it! But sometimes it has to be done. There are so many updates you can give your home though and I'll be sure to share them with you. Read about my DECORganize method to understand more about you can update with a little rearranging. When you travel, you don't necessarily have to go to a kosher spot. It's definitely easier and kosher vacations are available and popular. Some people like to go to very Jewish areas, and some want to be able to go to a deserted island. Just bring a pot with you! If you want to spice up your Shabbos table, get yourself a lacey tablecloth and put different colors tablecloths underneath to keep things varied and interesting. You don't have to keep buying more and more dishes. Menu planning is kind of unavoidable if you want to get dinner on the table. Or, if you have the room, keep your pantry so full and have recipes memorized like the back of your hand. When you go looking in the pantry, you'll know immediately what to make and then cook it easily. Again, with food you've got to pick a methodthat works for you. Freezing in advance? Or only eating fresh. It's not that hard to do both, it just requires some time and thought as to what you will make (check out my 4 week shabbos meal plans sent to you in an email). Believe it or not, you don't need 3 dish drainers! I had a phone conversation with a coaching client and she was so relieved to find out she could throw away her grimy plastic dish drainers :)Tuition is expensive I know, and based on the many requests I get for how to live more frugally, I've reprinted some wonderful articles written by friend and writer Stephanie Savir.I'd love to hear more about what you need to help you get organized, please contact me to let me know what organizing printables would be helpful to you.
